A poor man, trying to escape his debtors, goes into the house of a rich man. The man's four dogs wear golden collars and eat from golden dishes. Allah causes the dogs to allow the poor man to eat some of their food. He takes a golden dish with him and sells it, pays off his debts, and becomes a wealthy merchant.
Years later, he wants to repay the owner of the dogs for the stolen dish, but the house is abandoned. He finds the owner, now poor and destitute. He tells him the story of the dogs and tries to repay him for the golden dish, but the formerly rich man refuses to believe him or accept the money.
